The ‘baby’ in baby alpaca does not come from newborn animals but instead refers to the grading of the fleece and describes how fine the fibre is. The fleece used in our products comes from sustainably and ethically managed herds in Peru which are sheared for their fleeces and freely graze the pastures of the Andes. The wonderful facts about baby alpaca fibre:
First, it does not come from baby animals. The term ‘baby alpaca’ describes how fine the fibre is (19,5-21,5 microns).
Baby alpaca fibre is:
– Luxurious: comparable to cashmere in its softness but is rarer than cashmere, more eco-friendly and more sustainable.
